With temperatures reaching all-time highs here in the valley, there’s no denying that the Arizona summer is in full swing. As tempting as it might be to cool off with an ice cream cone or some other sugary sweets, it’s always a good idea to stay on the healthier side of things! That’s why we’ve put together a list of some of our favorite healthy summer snacks we know the whole family will love!

Healthy Summer Snacks for The Whole Family

Fruit Kabobs 

Harness the power of fruit with this delicious recipe! 

Ingredients:

50 hulled strawberries

50 pieces of cantaloupe or mandarin oranges

50 pieces of canned pineapple

50 pieces of kiwi or honeydew melon

100 blueberries

50 disposable skewers

Instructions:

First, be sure you’ve removed any splinters from your skewers before washing them. Cut the fruit (if needed) into small chunks. Place the fruit onto the skewers and enjoy!

Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Put a healthy twist on traditional fries with this very tasty recipe. 

Ingredients:

2 pounds of sweet potatoes

2 tablespoons of olive oil

1 1/2 teaspoons of chili powder

1 1/2 teaspoons of kosher salt

Instructions:

After preheating the oven to 425 degrees, cut each potato in half (lengthwise) and place it flat side down onto a cutting board. Then, cut the potato halves into one inch halves into one inch wide wedges

Using a small bowl, combine the oil,  1 teaspoon of salt, and chili powder, and place the potatoes on a roasting pan and brush them with the oil mixture. Lay the potatoes down on the flesh side and place pan in the oven.

Cook the potatoes for 20-25 minutes, turning them once. Remove the pan from the oven and season with the rest of the salt. Let them cool and enjoy!

Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Chips

Who doesn’t love a good salsa? This easily customized salsa will have the whole family asking for more!

Ingredients:

3 kiwis

10 strawberries

1 green bell pepper

1 yellow bell pepper

1 red yell pepper

1/4 pineapple

Instructions:

Dice up the fruits and vegetables and combine them all into a big bowl. Find your favorite cinnamon chips and enjoy! It’s that easy.
